eBeam wins 'Best of Show' award at MAC World
Electronics
For Imaging announced that its eBeam digital
whiteboard
appliance won the Macworld Best of Show award at the Seybold San
Francisco
2001 trade show. The company also announced today new eBeam
software
for Macintosh version 2.1.
eBeam
captures meeting notes and diagrams as they are created on existing
whiteboards
and broadcasts them over the Internet or corporate intranet in real
time.
The system allows people in multiple locations to view content from the
same
whiteboard and to share and annotate spreadsheets and other documents
during
teleconferences. In presenting the "Best of Show" award, Macworld's
editors
noted the compact size and "stroke for stroke" capture accuracy of
eBeam.
The new eBeam software for Macintosh version 2.1 supports hosting collaborative
meetings over the Internet via the eBeam server, as well as synchronization
of
eBeam meetings files saved on Palm OS devices. The software includes the
eBeam Mouse application, which works with a digital projector to turn the
display
area into a virtual touchscreen.
"We are excited about the acceptance of eBeam software for the Macintosh
platform and are honored to have been singled out by Macworld's editors,"
said
Rafi Holtzman, general manager, eBeam. "With increased corporate interest
in
reducing travel expenses, eBeam's new conferencing tools improve productivity
by helping teams communicate more effectively in teleconferences and video
conferences. The system also greatly enhances e-learning environments,
as
distance learning students can see and interact with classroom content
in
real-time."
The eBeam Software for Macintosh version 2.1 is a free upgrade to current
eBeam owners and can be downloaded at www.e-beam.com.
The eBeam system, the most portable digital whiteboard appliance on the
market, works with existing whiteboards and other writing surfaces to capture
meeting notes and diagrams as they are created. Information is viewed,
saved,
edited, shared, and printed using a Mac or Windows PC. Unlike traditional
electronic whiteboards and copyboards, the eBeam system is affordable,
portable, easy to install, and Web-enabled. The palm-sized unit can be
carried in
a laptop case and installed in less than five minutes.
