Computer Requirements
System requirements for using Ibid and Netmeeting are :
PC’s running Windows 95/98 or NT 4.0
(NT users note they must install the Service Pack 3 to enable sharing)
Steps to Sharing a whiteboard session :Step 1 - Hosting or Joining a Call :
Once you have started Netmeeting, you either place or host a call…
or join a conference already running. If you are calling via a LAN or WAN you call another user by specifying the other persons machine name, e-mail address or IP (Internet Protocol) address
If you are calling over the Internet there are 2 methods of establishing a connection :
1) Call the other user by specifying the users IP address … or
2) Call the other user by a ULS (User Location Service). Microsoft have already setup generic locations in Netmeeting (eg : uls.microsoft.com, ils2.microsoft.com). You can setup your own ULS if you like … for further information refer to Microsofts’s web site.To connect to the user … select the user’s name from the directory of logged on users or specify their e-mail address. (If you specify their e-mail name they must be logged on to the server prior to your call)
If you are calling someone via a modem, simply dial their modem number.
Once you are in a Netmeeting conference, the person with the Ibid whiteboard needs to “Share” the Ibid application.
Step 2 - Sharing the Ibid Application
After you are “in a call”, start the Ibid application. (The status bar on the lower portion of your Netmeeting screen tells you whether you are ‘in a call’ or not.

Step 3 - Allowing Collaboration
To allow others to work with you, follow these steps :
1) Click the Collaboration option on the Netmeeting toolbar
2) Or select the Tools menu and then Start CollaboratingEach participant can control the cursor (one at a time) by double clicking in the shared Ibid application. Once they do this, the users initials will appear in a box on top of the mouse pointer for all remote users to see.
To stop the person who has control of the Ibid application from making changes, press ESC
Since users are remote to your computer they do not have the ability to Save or Print the file locally to their own PC. However you can send the file to participants by e-mail (send the snapshots as a Bitmap or Metafile)
Troubleshooting … Ibid & NetmeetingIf your computer has a higher screen resolution than others in the ‘conference’, your scrolling area is limited by that of the computer with the lowest screen resolution.
This however can be overcome by selecting Tools in Netmeeting, click Options. Click the General tab and then click Scroll Entire Screen.
Q : The Share Application menu and Toolbar are greyed and unavailable for selection. Why ?
A : You will not be able to Share an application until you are in a call with at least one user. The Netmeeting status bar tells you whether you are in a meeting or not.Q : Other people in the Netmeeting conference say that part or all of the Ibid window appears grey or has a graphical pattern on it.
A : This happens when another program overlaps the Ibid application. To fix this :
Quit all programs you are not using (ie : all others .. other than Ibid)
Minimise all Windows on your desktop (except Ibid)
